
Gea Garatti Ansini is an esteemed choirmaster with a distinguished career in opera and choral conducting. She graduated in piano and choral conducting from the G.B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna and earned a second-level degree from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. Her specialization in the Kodály method took her to Hungary, further enriching her expertise.
Her professional journey began in 1992 as Assistant Chorus Master at Teatro V. Bellini in Catania, later joining the Rome Opera, where she worked until 2018. At the Rome Opera, she conducted 16 productions between 2000 and 2011, including Lady in the Dark, Così fan tutte, and Madama Butterfly, also leading international tours in Hannover and Japan.
Her experience extends to Teatro Comunale di Bologna, where she conducted Un Ballo in Maschera, The Magic Flute, and Brahms’ Deutsches Requiem. In 2014, she founded the International Opera Choir, collaborating on productions for the Spoleto Festival and premiering contemporary works by S. Colasanti. She has also directed the choruses of Teatro Massimo in Catania and Teatro di San Carlo in Naples.
Her vast repertoire includes both opera and sacred music, having collaborated with world-renowned conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Muti, and Zubin Mehta.
