The conductor for the XXXI Edition will be Oksana Lyniv

We are pleased to announce that the conductor of the 31st edition of the International Composing Competition “2 Agosto” will be Oksana Lyniv.

Oksana Lyniv, Music Director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna since 2022, is the first female chief conductor of an Italian opera house. Born in Brody, Ukraine, she made history in 2021 as the first female conductor at the Bayreuth Festival. Winner of the Opera!Awards 2020 (Germany) and nominee for the International Opera Awards 2020 (UK), Lyniv is highly sought after in the concert field, having conducted renowned orchestras like the Staatskapelle Berlin, Opéra de Toulon, Philharmonie de Luxembourg, and ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra.

In 2024, she debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York with Puccini’s Turandot. Her engagements include top opera houses and orchestras such as the Bavarian State Opera, Royal Opera House, Vienna Philharmonic, and London Philharmonic. In 2024-2025, she will lead major productions, including The Magic Flute in Paris, Tosca in Oslo, and Madam Butterfly in Tokyo. Lyniv founded the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and co-founded the LvivMozArt Festival, earning numerous awards for her contributions to music.

The winning scores will be performed live in Bologna, Piazza Maggiore, on August 2nd, 2025, during the commemorative events in memory of the victims of the slaughters.

The final concert of International Composition Competition “2 Agosto” will be played by the Orchestra of Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

The concert will be radio live broadcasted on Radio 3 and catch-up TV on Rai5.
