Claudio Marino Moretti
Claudio Marino Moretti began his musical studies at the Conservatory of Brescia before continuing at the Conservatory of Milan, where he studied composition with Franco Donatoni and piano with Antonio Ballista.
He collaborated for several years with Mino Bordignon at the Civic Choirs of Milan and later with Bruno Casoni at the Teatro Regio di Torino. During this period, he founded the children’s choir of the Teatro Regio di Torino and the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, carrying out an intense programme of both educational and concert activities.

From 2001, he served as Chorus Master at the Teatro Regio di Torino, where he also took part in important recording projects, including Verdi’s Requiem in Cologne with the WDR and NDR Radio Choirs under the baton of Semyon Bychkov.
Between 2008 and 2021, he was Chorus Master at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, where, alongside the major operatic and symphonic repertoire, he prepared the choir for the world premiere of Bruno Maderna’s Requiem and later for Luigi Nono’s Intolleranza. His choral activity spans a wide repertoire, ranging from the complete motets of Bach to 20th-century and contemporary composers.
Since 2021, he has been Chorus Master at Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with numerous distinguished conductors, including Fabio Luisi, Gianandrea Noseda, Bruno Campanella, Riccardo Frizza, Myung-Whun Chung, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Georges Prêtre, Michel Plasson, Semyon Bychkov and Claudio Abbado, among many others.
Alongside his work as a chorus master, he is also active as a répétiteur.
From 1 July 2026, he will become Choirmaster of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
