Günay Mirzayeva

Born in 1985, Günay Mirzayeva, grew up in a musical family in Baku, Azerbaijan.

She began her pianistic studies at the age of six, going on to study musical theory at Baku Music College, whilst simultaneously studying composition at the Baku Music Academy under Professor Ismayil Hacibeyov.

Having won a scholarship under the Presidential State Programme for Azerbaijani Youth Studies “2007-2015”, Günay studied composition at the State Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, Germany, under Professor Caspar Johannes Walter and Professor Marco Stroppa, and graduated in 2011.

She studied for a Ph.D in composition at the Karlsruhe Music Academy under composer Dr. Professor Wolfgang Rihm and also in Rome at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory under Professor Francesco Telli.

She had a masterclasses with a famous composers like Helmut Lachenmann, Toshio Hosokawa, Beat Furrer.

Mirzayeva’s compositions was executed at the Berliner Philharmonie, Theaterhaus Stutgart, Teatro Dal Verme di Milano, Teatro Nuovo Colosseo di Roma, Teatro Donizetti, International Mugham Centre Baku, Baku Philharmonic Hall named after M.Magomayev.

Her pieces were premiered by l´Orchestra de I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Berlin Classic Players, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Ensemble Cross.Art, Ensemble Musik Fabrik Köln, Vocalconsort Berlin, Minguet Quartet, Ensemble PragueModern, Ensemble Contempoarte Florence, Patrik Kleemola, Guido Arbonelli, Eduard Brunner.
